Players Spotlight: Cashmere’s Mason Landdeck is a big fan of Damian Lillard

We recently caught up with Cashmere High School point guard Mason Landdeck (Class of 2021), who has led the Bulldogs to a 15-5 record and a No. 7 ranking in the 1A Washington boys basketball RPI.
How would you describe your game?
I’m a competitor, hate to lose, good IQ, then I feel I have the hoop stuff as far as handles, can shoot with range, vision.
What are your goals for the season, both individually and as a team?
Team: Win league, districts, go to state and get to play Lynden Christian.
Individual: League MVP, lead my team to state. Make all tourney team. Win the Ball!
How would you describe your coach?
First year playing for coach (Levi) Heyen, he’s a good guy, cares for his players. Good at building the program with the younger kids.
Who is your favorite player?
I like Damian Lillard. He can score, he’s a winner and he’s clutch and loyal.
Who is your toughest matchup?
For us it’s Okanogan. They’re all seniors with 3 years of varsity experience. We start 4 sophomores so it’s hard on everyone. (We play ’em tomorrow for league title; we’re gonna get ’em!)
What is your favorite gym in the state to play in?
I would be at home first in front of our crowd. Spokane Arena was cool last year for state and Gonzaga’s main court in the summer.
What are your aspirations as a player?
I’d like to win a gold ball for Cashmere. Keep putting work in the classroom and gym to get myself to a D1 college to play hoop.
