Washington girls basketball player spotlight: Jessica Lohman, Medical Lake High School

Jessica Lohman has put together a solid senior season for the Medical Lake High School girls basketball team. A versatile 5-11 guard who can fill it up from downtown, Lohman is averaging more than 11 points per game and has made 36 3-pointers.

Lohman (No. 15) is hoping to lead the Lady Cardinals (16-5) to their third consecutive district championship. They play Freeman on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the district title game. Medical Lake is currently No. 9 in the 1A WIAA RPI rankings.

We recently caught up with Lohman to ask her seven questions:

How would you describe your game?

My game is very versatile and smooth and I play smart and patient.

What are your goals for this season?

Team goal: Our team goal is to make it to state.

Individual goal: My goal is to help my team make it to state and average a double double.

How would you describe your coach (Kyle Lundberg)?

He has a lot of passion for the game, and works hard to get us ready.

Who is your favorite player?

Luka Doncic.

Who is your toughest matchup?

Freeman is our toughest matchup because they play with a lot of energy, and they really pressure. They have good perimeter players, and two tough inside players too.

What is your favorite gym in state to play in?

Yakima, because then we’d be playing in the state tournament again like last year.

What are your aspirations as a player?

Play as hard as I can, as well as I can, and see where it takes me.
