7 questions with KingCo 4A defensive player of the year Tyler Patterson, Mount Si High School

Tyler Patterson and Mount Si (23-2) enter the Washington boys basketball 4A state playoffs on a 17-game winning streak after cruising to the KingCo 4A league title and the 4A WesKing District title.

The Wildcats last loss came on Dec. 26 to Phoenix, Arizona powerhouse Pinnacle High School, who has a national player of the year candidate in Nico Mannion.

Patterson, a 6-6 junior shooting guard, forms half of one of the best guard tandems in the state along with 6-6 junior Jabe Mullins.

We recently caught up with Patterson and asked him seven questions:

How would you describe your game?

Shooter, pull-ups, post-ups and Defensive Player of the year in our league.

What are your goals for season?

Team goal: Win KingCo 4A✅ Win WestKing 4A Districts✅ Win State 4A

Individual goal: KingCo Defensive POY✅ Evolve as a player and become more well-rounded.

How would you describe your coach (Jason Griffith)?

Coach Griffith lives and breathes basketball 24/7/365. He’s loving, caring, and has built strong relationships with myself and his players.

Who is your favorite player?

Klay Thompson.

Who was your toughest matchup of season?

Pinnacle High School (Phoenix, Arizona). Nico Mannion is legit.

What is your favorite gym to play in?

Mount Si High School.

What are your aspirations as a player?

Keep improving my game and become more well-rounded. Play Division I college basketball.
