Highlights: Liam Lloyd leads Gonzaga Prep over Federal Way in Washington 4A boys basketball semifinals

It was billed as a showdown between Anton Watson and Jaden McDaniels, but Liam Lloyd stole the show.

Lloyd, a junior sharpshooter, scored 22 points, including 12 in the first quarter, to lead Gonzaga Prep to a 61-53 victory over Federal Way in the 4A boys basketball semifinals on Friday at the Tacoma Dome.

All of Lloyd’s first-quarter points came on 3-pointers as he staked the Bullpups to a 25-10 lead. But Federal Way came roaring back after Lloyd got into foul trouble, taking a 47-43 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Bullpups rallied in the final quarter, outscoring the Eagles 18-6 to run away with the win. Tari Eason led Federal Way with 19 points and McDaniels added 17 before fouling out midway through the fourth quarter.

Gonzaga Prep will play Mount Si in the 4A boys championship game on Saturday at 9 p.m. Watch highlights from the Bullpups’ victory:
