Gonzaga Prep’s Anton Watson named Washington’s 2019 ‘Mr. Basketball’

After leading Gonzaga Prep to its second consecutive 4A boys basketball state championship, Anton Watson has been named Washington’s “Mr. Basketball” by the Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association (WIBCA).

Watson, a 6-8 forward who will play for Gonzaga next season, averaged 20.5 points for the season and had 33 points and 8 rebounds in the Bullpups’ 69-43 victory over Mount Si in the 4A championship game.

WIBCA also named Federal Way senior Jaden McDaniels the 4A boys state player of the year.

3A boys player of the year: Shaw Anderson, Kelso

2A boys player of the year: Clayton Whitman, Lynden

1A boys player of the year: Cole Bajema, Lynden Christian

2B boys player of the year: Brock Ravet, Kittitas

1B boys player of the year: Maguire Isaak, Almira/Coulee-Hartline
